Problem Space
Fitness enthusiasts, especially beginners or those without a trainer, struggle to know when they’re near the end of a set. This can lead to giving up, overdoing it, or even injury. On top of that, counting reps can be mentally exhausting, and make it harder to stay focused or motivated.

Solution
To reduce demotivation and the risk of injury, Lightbell’s responsive light changes color to indicate the progression of your workout. This visual cue helps you stay focused, motivated, and aware of your rep count, ensuring a safer, and more efficient training session.
How It Works
Red
Turn the potentiometer (dial) to your desired rep amount. Then start lifting as you would a regular dumbbell.

Blue
The dumbbell turns blue when you’ve completed a third of your reps.
Green
Reach green. Feel lean! The dumbbell turns green when you’ve completed your final rep!

Research & Insights
67% of people who engage in exercise-based gamification report higher motivation, and greater consistency in their workouts.

Target Audience
Based on this research, Lightbell sets out to target active Millennials who crave immersive
at-home workout, and high-energy group fitness experiences. "One quarter of Millennials report playing an organized sport at least weekly, and the same number do group fitness classes"

Takeaway
-
Prototype a model that has weight to it.
-
Test the shock resisitance.
-
The code was programmed using Arduino, sourcing a more sophisticated tech solution would be ideal.
